About
Jodey Arrington represents Texas's 19th congressional district, a region covering much of West Texas including Lubbock and Abilene. First elected in 2016, Arrington brought a background in public service and private industry to Washington. He previously served in the George W. Bush administration as a special assistant to the president and worked as the chief of staff for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Before entering Congress, he held leadership roles at Texas Tech University and served as president of a healthcare laboratory.
In the House of Representatives, Arrington holds a significant leadership position as the Chair of the House Committee on the Budget. He also serves on the powerful Ways and Means Committee, where he participates in subcommittees focused on tax and trade, as well as the Joint Economic Committee. His legislative work often centers on the needs of rural communities and fiscal responsibility. He has sponsored legislation such as the Second Chances for Rural Hospitals Act and the Estate Tax Rate Reduction Act.
During his tenure, Arrington successfully passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law in July 2025. His policy focus has consistently included rural healthcare access and national security measures, such as the Securing Accountability in Foreign Entries Act. In late 2025, Arrington announced that he would not seek re-election for the 2026 term, concluding his service in the House at the end of the 119th Congress.
