About
Ed Case is a Democratic Representative from Hawaii's 1st District who previously represented the state's 2nd District from 2002 to 2007.
Background
Ed Case was born in Hilo, Hawaii, and graduated from Hawaii Preparatory Academy before earning a bachelor's degree in psychology from Williams College and a law degree from the University of California Hastings College of Law. After working as a jackaroo on a sheep station in Australia, he served as a law clerk for the Hawaii Supreme Court and spent nearly two decades as an attorney and managing partner at the Honolulu law firm Carlsmith Ball. He later worked for the law firm Bays Deaver Lung Rose & Baba and served as an executive for the Outrigger Enterprises Group.
Political career
Ed Case began his political career in the Hawaii House of Representatives, where he served from 1994 to 2002 and held the role of majority leader. He was first sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives in 2002 following a special election to represent Hawaii's 2nd district, a seat he held until 2007. After unsuccessful bids for the U.S. Senate and a period in the private sector, he returned to Congress in January 2019 to represent Hawaii's 1st district.
Current focus
Case, Ed represents the 1st congressional district of HI in the U.S. House. Case, Ed currently serves on the Defense, the Homeland Security, and the House Committee on Appropriations. They have sponsored 86 bills in the current House, including H.R. 9013; H.R. 6921; H.R. 6619.
