Sarah Elfreth is a Democratic Representative from Maryland's 3rd District who previously served in the Maryland Senate and worked as a lobbyist for the National Aquarium.
Background
Born and raised in Barrington, New Jersey, Sarah Elfreth moved to Maryland to attend Towson University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science before completing a Master of Science in public policy at Johns Hopkins University. During her studies, she served as a student member of the University System of Maryland Board of Regents and worked as a research assistant. Before her election to public office, she worked as a lobbyist for the National Aquarium and served as a senior director for the consulting firm Margrave Strategies.
Political career
Sarah Elfreth began her career in public service as a student member of the University System of Maryland Board of Regents and later served as a member of the Maryland Senate representing the 30th district from 2019 to 2025. A member of the Democratic Party, she won a 22-way primary and the subsequent general election to represent Maryland's 3rd congressional district. She was sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives on January 3, 2025.

Elfreth, Sarah currently serves on the Energy and Mineral Resources, the House Committee on Armed Services, and the House Committee on Natural Resources.
