Background
Scott Fitzgerald was born in Chicago and moved to Hustisford, Wisconsin, as a child. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh in 1985 and served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 27 years, retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel. Before entering politics, he worked as a newspaper publisher, owning the Dodge County Independent News and later serving as an associate publisher for the Watertown Daily Times.
Political career
Scott Fitzgerald began his political career in the Wisconsin State Senate, where he represented the 13th district from 1995 to 2021. A member of the Republican Party, he transitioned to federal office when he was elected to represent Wisconsin's 5th congressional district. He has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2021, representing a district that includes several suburbs of Milwaukee.
