Background
Vicente Gonzalez was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. Before entering public office, he established and operated a private law practice.
Political career
A lawyer in private practice, Vicente Gonzalez was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2016 following the retirement of Rubén Hinojosa. He was sworn into office in 2017 and initially represented Texas's 15th congressional district. Following the 2020 census and subsequent redistricting, he ran for and won the election to represent Texas's 34th congressional district starting in 2023.
