Background
Jared Huffman was born on February 18, 1964. He is a lawyer by profession and worked as an attorney before entering public service. Prior to his election to the U.S. House of Representatives, he served in the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2012.
Political career
Jared Huffman began his legislative career in the California State Assembly, where he represented the 6th district from 2006 to 2012 and chaired the Water, Parks & Wildlife Committee. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012 and has served as the representative for California's 2nd congressional district since 2013. Throughout his tenure in Congress, he has secured reelection six times, most recently in the 2024 general election.
