Val T. Hoyle is a Democratic Representative from Oregon's 4th District who previously served as the commissioner of Oregon's Bureau of Labor and Industries.
Background
Val Hoyle was born on February 14, 1964. Before entering public office, she worked in sales and marketing for bicycle manufacturers Burley Design and Cane Creek and served as a director for the United Way of Lane County. Her early career also included roles as a legislative aide and policy analyst for State Senator Floyd Prozanski and as an advocate for the education group Stand for Children.
Political career
Val T. Hoyle began her career in public service as a legislative aide and was later appointed to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2009, where she served as majority leader before running for Oregon Secretary of State in 2016. She subsequently served as the commissioner of Oregon's Bureau of Labor and Industries from 2019 until 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, she was first sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives in 2023 to represent Oregon's 4th congressional district.
