Ro Khanna was born in Philadelphia to Indian parents and attended the University of Chicago and law school. A member of the Democratic Party, he was first sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives in 2017 after defeating an incumbent in the 2016 general election. He has since been reelected to represent California's 17th congressional district four times.
