Political career

Young Kim began her political career working for 21 years as a community liaison and director of Asian affairs for U.S. Representative Ed Royce before serving in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. She was first sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives in 2021 after winning a rematch against the incumbent who had defeated her in 2018. A member of the Republican Party, she represented California's 39th district for one term before moving to represent the 40th district in 2023.
