Langworthy, Nicholas A.

Nicholas Langworthy represents New York's 23rd congressional district and serves as chair of the Legislative and Budget Process subcommittee within the House Committee on Rules. The Rules Committee is one of Congress's most powerful panels, controlling which bills reach the House floor and under what debate conditions they are considered. As subcommittee chair, Langworthy helps shape the procedural rules that govern legislative debate and voting, giving him significant influence over the pace and scope of House business.

Langworthy built his political career through hands-on campaign and legislative work before ascending to party leadership. He began as an intern in Governor George Pataki's office and later managed successful congressional campaigns for Representatives Thomas Reynolds and Chris Lee, serving as Lee's district director. He also founded Liberty Opinion Research, a polling firm. Before entering Congress in 2023, Langworthy held significant party leadership roles that demonstrated his organizational and political skills. He chaired the Erie County Republican Committee from 2010 to 2019, becoming the youngest party chair in the county's history, and was named chair of the New York State Republican Committee in July 2019 at age 38, making him the youngest state chair in Republican Party history. He was an early Trump supporter and served on the president-elect's transition team executive committee in 2016.

In Congress, Langworthy serves on the House Committees on Oversight and Government Reform, Energy and Commerce, and Rules.
