About
Nancy Mace represents South Carolina's 1st congressional district, a six-county region in the southern part of the state. First elected to the U.S. House in 2020, she made history as the first Republican woman from South Carolina elected to Congress. Before her federal service, she served in the South Carolina General Assembly and gained national recognition in 1999 as the first woman to graduate from the Corps of Cadets at The Citadel. Her early political career included work on presidential campaigns and a run for the U.S. Senate.
In Congress, Mace holds several influential committee assignments, including roles on the House Committee on Armed Services, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and the Committee on Veterans' Affairs. She serves as the Chair of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation. Her legislative work focuses on government efficiency, veterans' services, and fiscal responsibility, as seen in her sponsorship of the FETCH Act and the Accountable Leadership for Veterans Act. In 2025, she announced her intention to run for Governor of South Carolina in the 2026 election.
