Moore, Blake D.

Blake Moore is a Republican representative from Utah's 1st Congressional District, which includes Northern Utah. Born in Ogden in 1980, Moore has served in the House since January 2021. Before entering Congress, he worked as a foreign service officer with the U.S. Department of State and as a consultant with the Cicero Group, a management consulting firm. He earned a bachelor's degree in behavioral science from the University of Utah and a master's degree in public policy and administration from Northwestern University.

Moore serves on the House Committee on the Budget and the House Committee on Ways and Means, where he sits on the Health, Social Security, and Trade subcommittees. He is notably the first Utah Republican ever elected to the Ways and Means Committee. His legislative focus centers on fiscal responsibility, defense priorities, and economic growth. He has championed efforts to address the national debt and deficit, convening a Debt and Deficit Task Force in Ogden that earned him recognition as a 2022 Fiscal Hero by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

Moore holds a significant leadership position within the House Republican Conference, serving as Vice Chair since November 2023—making him the first Utahn ever elected to House or Senate leadership. He actively advocates for Hill Air Force Base and Utah's defense community as co-chair of the Armed Forces and Depot caucuses. His sponsored legislation addresses diverse policy areas including tax code amendments, charitable organization protections, and event contract enforcement. Moore has demonstrated a willingness to work across party lines on issues like homeownership access and floor plan financing deductions.
