Quigley, Mike

Mike Quigley is a Democratic representative from Illinois's 5th District who has served in Congress since 2009. As ranking member of the Defense Intelligence and Overhead Architecture Subcommittee within the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Quigley leads the minority party's oversight of intelligence collection and analysis activities. The House Intelligence Committee oversees the entire intelligence community and plays a central role in national security policy and oversight. Quigley's background uniquely positions him for this role: he holds degrees in political science, public policy, and law, and previously taught intelligence and national security at the University of Chicago. Before entering Congress, he served as a Cook County Commissioner from 1998 to 2009, where he earned a reputation as a reformer focused on government transparency and efficiency. In his current role, Quigley has been deeply involved in major national security matters. He previously served on the Intelligence Committee from 2015 to 2022, where he participated in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and the first impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. Since returning to the committee in 2025, he has continued to focus on oversight of intelligence operations and national security threats. Beyond his intelligence work, Quigley serves on the House Appropriations Committee and has been a vocal advocate on issues including government transparency, Ukraine support, gun violence prevention, LGBTQ rights, and environmental protection. He founded the bipartisan Congressional Transparency Caucus and co-chairs the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, demonstrating his commitment to oversight and international security issues.
