About
Michael Rulli is a Republican representative from Ohio's 6th congressional district, having entered Congress in June 2024 through a special election. Born in Mahoning County in 1969, Rulli earned a degree in communications and speech from Emerson College and has spent his career as director of operations at Rulli Bros. Markets, a family-owned grocery chain in the Mahoning Valley. Before his election to Congress, he served on the Leetonia school board and in the Ohio State Senate from 2019 to 2024.
In the House, Rulli serves on the Committee on Education and Workforce and the Committee on Energy and Commerce, with assignments to subcommittees on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education; Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions; Energy; and Health. His legislative priorities reflect his background in business and focus on fiscal responsibility, with bills addressing child care fraud prevention, supplemental security income protections, and energy policy. He is also co-chair of the bicameral Italian American Congressional Delegation.
Rulli has championed legislation on issues ranging from education to consumer protection. His sponsored bills include the Stop Child Care Fraud Act, the Halo Act, and the Balance the Scales Act. He won re-election in November 2024 with approximately 66 percent of the vote against the same Democratic opponent he defeated in the special election.
