Sherrill, Mikie

Mikie Sherrill is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives representing New Jersey's 11th District, a position she has held since first entering Congress in 2019. Born in 1972, she graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1994 and served nearly a decade in the U.S. Navy as a helicopter pilot, flying missions in Europe and the Middle East. Following her military service, she earned a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and a law degree from Georgetown University before serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey.

In the 119th Congress, she serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. Her legislative work reflects a focus on public safety, family support, and judicial reform, as evidenced by her sponsorship of the PROTECT Firefighters Act and the Child Care for Every Community Act. Additionally, she has introduced measures such as the Patient Device Data Access Act of 2025 and the End Judge Shopping Act to address healthcare transparency and legal procedural integrity. Throughout her tenure, she has sponsored a total of 48 bills, frequently advocating for policies that impact veterans, working families, and national security.
