Womack, Steve

Steve Womack is a Republican Representative from Arkansas's 3rd congressional district, serving since 2011. Born in 1957, he built a diverse professional background as a radio station manager and financial consultant before entering public service. He served thirty years in the Arkansas Army National Guard, retiring at the rank of colonel. Prior to his election to Congress, he served twelve years as the mayor of Rogers, Arkansas, where he was credited with overseeing significant local economic development and infrastructure improvements.

In the House, Womack is a senior member of the Committee on Appropriations. He holds a significant leadership role as the Chair of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies. His other committee assignments include the Subcommittee on Defense and the Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government. He previously served as the Chairman of the House Budget Committee during the 115th Congress, where he led efforts on fiscal policy and budget process reform.

Womack's legislative priorities often center on fiscal responsibility, military readiness, and regional infrastructure. He has sponsored legislation such as the Stephen Hacala Poppy Seed Safety Act and the Duty Drawback Clarification Act. Known for his consistent participation in chamber proceedings, he maintained one of the longest consecutive voting streaks in House history. He has also been a frequent presiding officer over the House floor and served as the chairman of the Board of Visitors for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
