About
Rudy Yakym is a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives representing Indiana's 2nd congressional district. Born and raised in South Bend, he assumed office in November 2022 following a special election to succeed the late Representative Jackie Walorski. Before entering Congress, Yakym worked in the private sector, most recently as Director of Growth Initiatives at Kem Krest, where he led efforts to streamline supply chains and drive economic development. He holds a business finance degree from Indiana University South Bend and an Executive MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
Yakym serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, where he played a key role in crafting tax provisions of major legislation. He also serves on committees focused on oversight, social security, and work and welfare issues. His legislative priorities center on advancing pro-growth, fiscally responsible policies. In his first term, he served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, where he led a bipartisan effort to address the national air traffic controller shortage.
During his tenure, Yakym has championed legislation aimed at improving federal efficiency and supporting working families, including the Reducing Bureaucracy to Uplift Families Act and the bipartisan Improper Payments Transparency Act. He has also sponsored bills addressing housing, foster youth support, and drug safety. In 2024, he identified inflation and border security as his most important issues.
Yakym is married to Sallyann and has three children. He is active in his community, serving as head usher at New Life Baptist Church in Osceola and previously serving on the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission.
