This bill would allow the state of West Virginia to issue special permits for trucks carrying coal and coal by-products to weigh up to 126,000 pounds on a specific 12-mile stretch of Interstate 77. This section of highway is located in Kanawha County between Exit 85 and Exit 97. If enacted, the legislation would effectively increase the weight limit for these specific commercial vehicles beyond the standard federal limit of 80,000 pounds for that portion of the interstate.
