To amend title 10, United States Code, to provide increased access to military commissary stores for members of the Ready Reserve, persons who would be eligible for military retired pay (but for the fact that they are under 60 years of age), and their dependents.

H.R. 1059 is a bill designed to expand access to military commissary stores for members of the Ready Reserve and certain military retirees. Under this legislation, Ready Reserve members who earn at least 50 service points in a year would be granted the same unlimited shopping privileges as active-duty service members, removing previous restrictions that limited their use to 24 days per year. Additionally, the bill extends these full commissary benefits to "gray area" retirees—those who have completed their service requirements but are not yet 60 years old—as well as the dependents of both groups. This change would allow these military families to access discounted groceries and household goods on a more consistent basis.
