To provide for the establishment of a memorial at the site in Alaqua, Florida, of the accidental bombing of a home by an aircraft of the United States Army Air Corps on August 11, 1944, which killed Alfred Cosson, James Cosson, James Cosson, Jr., and Winnie Lee Cosson and wounded five other family members.

This bill, introduced in 2003, would authorize the Secretary of the Air Force to create and maintain a permanent memorial in Alaqua, Florida, to honor the victims of a 1944 military accident. The memorial would commemorate four members of the Cosson family who were killed, and five who were injured, when a U.S. Army Air Corps aircraft accidentally bombed their home during World War II. If enacted, the legislation would ensure the site of the tragedy is officially recognized and preserved for the local community and the descendants of the family.
