To amend title 49, United States Code, relating to the assurance required of owners and operators of airports with respect to long-term leases for construction of hangars.

H.R. 1117 proposes to change federal aviation law to provide greater security for aircraft owners who pay to build their own hangars at public airports. The bill would require airport operators to grant these individuals a long-term lease of at least 75 years, establishing a national minimum where none currently exists. Additionally, if an airport requires a hangar to be moved or removed due to changes in development plans during that 75-year period, the airport would be legally required to compensate the owner for relocation costs and any resulting loss of income.
