To provide for the award of a gold medal on behalf of Congress to Arnold Palmer in recognition of his service to the Nation in promoting excellence and good sportsmanship in golf.

This bill proposes that Congress award a Congressional Gold Medal to Arnold Palmer to honor his contributions to the United States through his promotion of excellence and sportsmanship in the sport of golf. If passed, the Secretary of the Treasury would be authorized to strike and award a single gold medal to Mr. Palmer, as well as produce bronze duplicate medals for sale to the public. While the bill does not change national policy, it serves as a formal recognition of an individual’s cultural impact and provides citizens with the opportunity to purchase commemorative versions of the award.
