Medicare Medical Nutrition Therapy Amendment Act of 2003

This bill would expand Medicare Part B coverage to include medical nutrition therapy for beneficiaries with cardiovascular diseases, such as congestive heart failure, hypertension, and high cholesterol. Currently, Medicare only covers these specialized nutrition services—which include personalized diet plans and counseling from registered dietitians—for patients with diabetes or kidney disease. If enacted, this change would allow millions of additional seniors to access professional nutritional support to help manage heart-related conditions and potentially prevent further health complications.
