Gift of Life Congressional Medal Act of 2003

This bill would establish a commemorative bronze medal to honor organ donors and their families for their life-saving contributions. Under this legislation, the Department of Health and Human Services would coordinate with the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network to identify eligible recipients and arrange for the presentation of the medals. The goal of the act is to provide official national recognition for the selflessness of donors while raising public awareness about the importance of organ donation.
