EAGLES Act of 2025

The EAGLES Act of 2025 would reauthorize the National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC), a division within the U.S. Secret Service, extending its authority through fiscal year 2030. The bill would expand NTAC's responsibilities beyond its current functions to include additional activities focused on preventing targeted violence.

A key expansion would establish a national program dedicated to preventing targeted school violence. This would represent a broadening of NTAC's mission to address specific threats in educational settings. If enacted, the bill would provide ongoing federal resources and structure for threat assessment work aimed at identifying and preventing violent incidents before they occur.

The bill is currently in the committee review stage and has not yet been voted on by the full House. As standard legislation, it would require presidential signature to become law.
