One Strike and You're Out! Act of 2005

H.R. 1309, the One Strike and You're Out! Act of 2005, proposes changes to federal housing laws to protect certain vulnerable tenants from being evicted due to the actions of others. Under this bill, elderly or disabled residents in public housing or Section 8 programs would not lose their housing if a household member or guest engaged in criminal or drug-related activity, provided the tenant was unaware of the activity or was a victim of it. Additionally, the bill would require public housing agencies to submit annual reports detailing the number of evictions related to criminal activity.
