Summary
Correctional Officer Protection Act - Amends the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to provide for a 25 percent reduction in drug control and system improvement grants to any State that does not have in effect a law which subjects to specified Federal penalties prescribed for murder and manslaughter (including the death penalty if the killing is a first degree murder) anyone who, while incarcerated, kills a State or local correctional officer: (1) while such officer is engaged in carrying out official duties; (2) because of the nature of such officer's duties; or (3) because of such individual being such an officer.
