Veterans Homecare Choice Act of 2025
Summary
The Veterans Homecare Choice Act of 2025 would modify the Department of Veterans Affairs' Veterans Community Care Program to recognize nurse registries as eligible healthcare providers. A nurse registry, under this bill's definition, would be an entity that meets state licensing requirements and arranges contracts for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, home health aides, companions, or homemakers to provide healthcare-related or assistive services to patients in exchange for compensation.
If enacted, this bill could expand veterans' options for receiving home-based care services by allowing them to access care through nurse registries in addition to other existing providers. This would potentially give veterans more flexibility in choosing how they receive home healthcare services through the VA's community care program. The bill is currently under consideration in the House Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs and has not yet been voted on by the full chamber.
