World Deserves To Know Act

H.R. 229, the World Deserves To Know Act, would require the U.S. government to impose sanctions on Chinese Communist Party officials and health leaders who were involved in suppressing information or silencing whistleblowers regarding the origins of COVID-19. These sanctions, which include freezing assets and denying visas, would remain in place until an independent investigation into the Wuhan Institute of Virology is completed. Additionally, the bill would prohibit federal funding and student financial aid from going to American universities that maintain contracts with certain Chinese health agencies. It also mandates a public audit of all federal funds provided to China’s National Health Commission over the last decade to ensure transparency in how U.S. taxpayer money is spent abroad.
