Military Spouse Employment Assistance Act of 2001
Summary
Directs the Secretary to: (1) review and maximize Department of Defense (DOD) policies affecting employment opportunities for military spouses; (2) maximize the opportunity for military spouses to be employed in DOD facilities; (3) work with the Director of the Office of Personnel Management and the heads of other Federal departments and agencies to facilitate the use of existing Federal programs and resources to support such employment; (4) seek to develop private-sector partnerships to enhance such opportunities; and (5) prescribe regulations to ensure that private sector entities, in hiring for work to be performed under a DOD contract, provide a preference to qualified military spouses and provide other employment opportunities for such spouses in the same manner as provided for DOD positions.
