High Threat Helicopter Flight Area Act

This bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to identify areas at high risk for terrorist attacks and designate them as "high threat helicopter flight areas." In these zones, helicopter passengers and their belongings would undergo security screening similar to the procedures used for commercial airline travelers. Additionally, the bill would mandate that helicopters in these areas follow specific flight paths, such as flying over water when possible and maintaining constant communication with air traffic control.
