Election Weekend Act

H.R. 2758, the Election Weekend Act, proposes moving federal election days from the traditional Tuesday after the first Monday in November to the first full weekend of the month (Saturday and Sunday). This change would apply to all elections for President, Vice President, and members of Congress. Additionally, the bill encourages private employers to provide their employees with time off on one of these days to ensure they have the opportunity to vote. The primary goal of the legislation is to increase voter turnout by making it more convenient for citizens to reach the polls outside of the standard work week.
