Uniting American Families Act

The Uniting American Families Act (H.R. 3006) would amend federal immigration law to allow U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents to sponsor their "permanent partners" for residency. By adding this definition to the Immigration and Nationality Act, the bill would provide same-sex couples who are unable to marry under the laws of their jurisdiction the same immigration benefits currently available to married opposite-sex couples.
