It allows servicemembers to terminate residential or motor vehicle leases without penalty if they enter active duty or receive orders for a permanent change of station or a deployment lasting at least 90 days. By providing these protections, the law ensures that military personnel are not financially burdened by long-term contracts when the government requires them to relocate or deploy.
