Celia Cruz Commemorative Coin Act

H.R. 3109, the Celia Cruz Commemorative Coin Act, would authorize the U.S. Mint to produce limited-edition silver dollar and half-dollar coins honoring the life and legacy of the legendary singer known as the "Queen of Salsa." These coins would be available for public purchase, with a portion of the proceeds from each sale—$10 per silver dollar and $3 per half-dollar—donated to the Celia Cruz Foundation to support its charitable work. While the bill was introduced to celebrate Cruz’s cultural contributions, it did not advance past the committee stage during the 108th Congress and never became law.
