Disaster Relief Equity Act of 2005

The Disaster Relief Equity Act of 2005 proposes an amendment to the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to ensure fairness in federal emergency responses. The bill would require the President to guarantee that all disaster relief activities—including the distribution of food and supplies and the processing of aid applications—are conducted without discrimination. By law, assistance would have to be provided equitably regardless of a person's race, color, religion, nationality, sex, age, or economic status.
