Sea Turtle Rescue Assistance and Rehabilitation Act of 2025

H.R. 347 would expand an existing federal grant program to specifically support sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation activities. The bill would establish dedicated grants for organizations working to rescue, treat, and care for sick, injured, or entangled sea turtles, as well as those responding to stranded sea turtles. The funds could also support scientific research through data collection from sea turtles and help develop rescue network capacity in areas where facilities are lacking or nonexistent.

If enacted, the bill would create a new Sea Turtle Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Rapid Response Fund to support these activities over a seven-year period. The practical effect would be increased federal funding available to marine rescue organizations, veterinary facilities, and research institutions working to protect sea turtles. Currently, the bill has been introduced in the House and referred to committee, where it may undergo further consideration before any full chamber vote.
