Veterans CARE Act

The Veterans CARE Act (H.R. 3584) would require the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to conduct formal scientific research into the safety and effectiveness of using cannabis to treat veterans. The study would specifically focus on veterans enrolled in the VA health care system who live with chronic pain, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other service-related conditions.

If passed, this legislation would provide veterans and their doctors with clinical data regarding different forms of cannabis and delivery methods. The goal of the bill is to establish an evidence-based foundation for medical providers to determine if cannabis is a safe and viable alternative to traditional medications, such as opioids, for managing long-term health issues.
