Under this legislation, the site would be managed through the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP), a program specifically designed to handle legacy waste from early atomic energy activities. For local residents, this change is intended to bring in specialized military engineering expertise to oversee the remediation of Manhattan Project-era contaminants while maintaining the area’s status as a federal Superfund site.
