Gulf Islands National Seashore Land Exchange Act of 2016

This bill authorizes a land swap between the National Park Service and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5699 in Jackson County, Mississippi. Under the agreement, the federal government would transfer approximately 1.5 acres of land within the Gulf Islands National Seashore to the VFW in exchange for a nearby 2.1-acre parcel owned by the Post.

The exchange is designed to ensure that both parties receive land of equal value, with any differences settled through cash payments or acreage adjustments. For citizens and visitors, this move aims to clarify property boundaries and streamline land management, as the newly acquired 2.1 acres will be permanently protected and managed as part of the National Seashore.
