Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 2026

H.R. 4249, the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act for 2026, would allocate federal funds to support the operations of Congress and its various agencies. The bill would provide funding for the House of Representatives, joint congressional committees like the Joint Economic Committee and Joint Committee on Taxation, and shared services including the Office of the Attending Physician and Office of Congressional Accessibility Services.

Beyond the House itself, the bill would fund several independent agencies that support Congress and the public. These include the Capitol Police, the Congressional Budget Office which analyzes legislation and budget impacts, the Library of Congress and its Congressional Research Service, the Government Accountability Office which audits federal programs, and the Architect of the Capitol who maintains congressional buildings. The bill would also fund the Government Publishing Office and the John C. Stennis Center for Public Service Training.

The bill is currently under consideration in the House Committee on Appropriations. If enacted, it would establish spending levels and rules for how these legislative branch agencies operate during fiscal year 2026. Senate operations are funded separately through a companion appropriations bill.
