To amend the District of Columbia College Access Act of 1999 to reauthorize for 5 additional years the public and private school tuition assistance programs established under the Act.

H.R. 4855 extends the District of Columbia Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG) program for an additional five years, through fiscal year 2012. This program provides financial assistance to D.C. residents to help offset the cost of higher education by covering the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition at public universities nationwide, or providing smaller grants for private colleges in the D.C. area. By reauthorizing these funds, the bill ensures that eligible students in the District continue to have more affordable access to a wider range of college options across the country.
