Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Rewards Program Act

This bill would extend the Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Rewards Pilot Program, which is administered by the Department of the Treasury. The program had lapsed as of January 1, 2024. If enacted, this bill would allow the program to resume operations and continue paying financial rewards to individuals who provide information that helps identify and recover stolen assets linked to foreign government corruption and the proceeds of such corruption. These assets are typically hidden in complex financial structures in the United States and abroad. Rewards can reach a maximum of $5 million for information leading to the restraint, seizure, forfeiture, or repatriation of stolen assets. The program is designed to encourage whistleblowers and informants to come forward with information that supports U.S. government efforts to combat international corruption and return stolen assets to affected countries.
