Identity Theft Consumer Notification Act

This bill would require financial institutions to notify customers immediately if their personal information is compromised or misused. It would also mandate that these institutions help victims repair their credit records and reimburse them for any financial losses or fees incurred while resolving the identity theft. Additionally, the bill would establish penalties for banks that fail to meet these requirements and allow consumers to sue for damages in federal court.
