Connecting Veterans to Care Act of 2025

The Connecting Veterans to Care Act of 2025 aims to improve transportation access for veterans by amending federal transit laws. Specifically, it proposes making public transportation systems that serve Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facilities eligible for certain federal "urbanized area formula grants." Currently, these grants are often restricted based on the size of the population in a given area; this bill would expand eligibility to ensure transit agencies can receive funding for routes that specifically connect veterans to their healthcare providers.

If enacted, the bill would require transit agencies receiving these funds to certify annually that the money is being used to support routes serving VA facilities. To ensure accountability, the Secretary of Transportation would be authorized to suspend funding if a recipient fails to provide the certified transportation services.
