Veterans Comprehensive Hepatitis C Health Care Act

This bill would require the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide free Hepatitis C testing and follow-up treatment to veterans. Priority for testing would be given to those who served during the Vietnam era or are considered "at risk," though any enrolled veteran could request a test.

Under this legislation, the VA would be prohibited from charging copayments for Hepatitis C care and would be required to establish new "centers of excellence" to specialize in treating the virus. Additionally, the bill mandates that the VA conduct annual outreach to notify veterans about these services and implement a standardized national policy for managing the disease within the veterans' healthcare system.
