Qualified Immunity Abolition Act of 2026

If enacted, this would make it easier for individuals who believe law enforcement violated their constitutional rights to pursue civil lawsuits against the officers involved, without those officers being able to use qualified immunity as a defense. The bill is currently under consideration by the House Committee on the Judiciary and has not yet been voted on by the full chamber.
