Jobs Now Act of 2025

The Jobs Now Act of 2025 would establish a pilot program administered by the Department of Labor to award grants to local government units and community-based organizations. These grants would be used to retain, employ, or train individuals for positions that provide public service. At least half of the grant funds must be directed toward retaining employees who would otherwise face layoffs due to budget cuts. The Department of Labor would be encouraged to prioritize grant recipients who use funds to support veterans, individuals with disabilities, people receiving unemployment benefits, and dislocated workers. This bill is currently referred to the House Committee on Education and Workforce and has not yet been voted on by the full chamber.
