Frank Siller Congressional Gold Medal Act
Summary
H.R. 7175 would authorize Congress to present a Congressional Gold Medal to Frank Siller in recognition of his contributions to memorializing those who lost their lives in the September 11 attacks, his efforts to support affected families, and his advocacy for military service members and first responders. Siller founded the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in honor of his brother, an FDNY firefighter who died on 9/11, and the foundation has since provided mortgage-free homes to catastrophically injured veterans, Gold Star families, and families of fallen first responders.
If enacted, this bill would direct the Speaker of the House and President pro tempore of the Senate to arrange the presentation of a gold medal designed by the Secretary of the Treasury. The bill would authorize the U.S. Mint to strike the medal and cover associated costs through its Public Enterprise Fund. Bronze duplicate medals may also be produced and sold, with proceeds returned to the Mint's fund. The Congressional Gold Medal is one of the nation's highest civilian honors, expressing the highest national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions.
