Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the fencing installed around the perimeter of the United States Capitol should be removed and the mission of the National Guard in the District of Columbia in response to the attacks on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, should be ended.

House Resolution 256 is a non-binding proposal that calls for the removal of the temporary security fencing erected around the United States Capitol complex following the events of January 6, 2021. The resolution also recommends the conclusion of the National Guard’s deployment in Washington, D.C., that was initiated to provide additional security for the area. If implemented, these actions would restore public access to the Capitol grounds and return the security of the district to local and federal law enforcement agencies.
